Whip Records took two years to build from the beginning stages of the design to its final completion. The studio was built from the ground up. It is not a converted office space or garage, but instead a carefully designed acoustic space. It was truly a labor of love, where every aspect of the design and construction was undertaken with the utmost care and attention to detail. The final result is a recording studio that provides outstanding recordings as well as being comfortable, functional and a pleasure to work in.

The studio was designed by owner David Landon and architect Robert Remiker. Mr. Remiker had previously redesigned the scoring stage control room at Skywalker Sound as well as the 5.1 mixing room and mastering suite at the Plant in Sausalito, CA. His knowledge of the intricacies of building a recording studio proved invaluable in designing Whip Records. Also involved in the design was acoustical engineer Bob Skye of Charles Saulter & Associates. Mr. Skye has extensive knowledge in studio design and has consulted for numerous other studio designs such as Disher Music and Sound in San Francisco, Ca.

Whip Records features a spacious drum room with full 180-degree views. The drum room was built on a "floating" floor to create perfect isolation by eliminating any sub vibrations from transferring through the floor and back up into the live room. This creates excellent isolation between the drum room and live room while keeping excellent visual contact and retaining an intimate feel.

During the building process, every effort was taken to insure that the artists would remain comfortable during recording sessions and that superior recordings would be achieved.

There are two entirely separate Heating/Air Conditioning Systems for the building in order to precisely regulate temperature and ventilation in each room. HVAC systems were engineered to operate at a whisper so they can be used during sessions without generating unwanted noise.
